Lichfield Towers is a six-storey residential apartment building located within Selwyn Village, a renowned senior living community in Point Chevalier, Auckland.
Originally constructed to serve as rental and rest home accommodation, the building underwent a comprehensive redevelopment and was transformed into a modern 48-unit apartment complex in 2002.
Design Engineers Ltd was engaged as the facade engineering consultant for the Lichfield Towers project, providing structural design and PS1 documentation for the external glazing systems. Our team focused on ensuring the building envelope met structural, seismic, and weather-tightness performance requirements in line with New Zealand Building Code standards.
Key responsibilities included wind load analysis, structural verification of aluminum joinery systems, and coordination of seismic movement considerations for the glazing. We also designed fixing details and support brackets to ensure safety, durability, and ease of installation during construction.
Working closely with the architect and contractor, Design Engineers Ltd delivered a robust and compliant facade solution that supports the functional and aesthetic goals of this urban development.
